Discrimination affects your career
Don’t fight it. Over acknowledge it.
Discrimination exists and it’s not going away. The best thing you can do about that is to over acknowledge it. You may have to remind people how many years of experience you have. That’s okay! Just do it. Gunning for a job that would require you to oversee 12 white men who have at least a decade on you? Explain why and how you’re up to that task. Let it be known that you know there is hesitation and you know why. Address it directly. Talk about how you’re going to not just succeed but thrive in that role.
