I never want you to throw up your hands up give up with no options. Granted, there are plenty of situations in corporate life that might tempt you to do just that. Maybe promotions keep going to someone else, or you don’t feel like you’ll ever have a voice at the table. That frustration is real and valid. In fact, I want you to be frustrated. What I don’t want is for you to end the story with that frustration. I want you to do something about it.
That something starts with a pause. You literally cannot solve the problem when you’re in amygdala hijack mode, living in fight-or-flight and ruminating about the problem. Do whatever you have to do to get out of that cycle of frustration and turn off the constant loop of injustice in your brain. Create a pause. Then you can move to the next step.
I recently released an episode of my podcast that’s full of real-life examples of how you can set yourself for your next promotion. Listen to ‘Ep #195: How 4 Corporate Badasses Created Magical Promotions’.
