Ask why and listen deeply
The magic of curiosity starts with one question: why? When someone at work gives you a compliment about your performance, ask them to be more specific. Why did they like your presentation? Why did your idea in that meeting ring true for them? Why did they think of you for that new role opening up? Drill down to find the deeper message in what they’re telling you. The answer will teach you more about yourself, and crystallize for them your specific value in the organization.
