If you don’t have a ton of followers on LinkedIn, embarking on an epic flurry of posting probably isn’t going to help you that much. If you’re not swimming in followers, prioritize this instead: comment on other people’s posts.
This works on a few levels. First, it shows people that you’re engaged and listening. It puts you into the conversation. And it actually facilitates networking. You know why? People are going to click on you to see who made that comment. And then you can see in your profile who is clicking on you, and you’re one step closer to making that new connection.
Remember that social media is, at its core, a social sphere. Think of other people’s profiles as parties. Sure, you can throw your own party and only make friends with the people who show up. But isn’t it so much better to go to other people’s parties, too? There may be people there you’ve never met before. And once you show up, they’re more likely to come to your next party, too.
