A while back I asked you all to think of what you’d do if there were no right or wrong answer. Okay forget that (mostly) because what I’ve realized since then is that there *are* right and wrong answers in the corporate world, and obviously running afoul of these things *can* get you in trouble. You don’t want to swim across the crocodile lagoon when there’s a bridge.
Whether you’re scheduling an ally meeting, looking for a new job or need to communicate something important with your boss, you want to move through these things with grace, without creating a lot of wreckage in your wake. For example, if you need your CEO something awkward about your boss, don’t go in guns blazing. That’s the wrong way. Also, don’t give up and start looking for a new job. I mean you can. But what about if you started easy with your values, and why you took this job. That’s the bread. Then you can put the salami in the values sandwich and tell the CEO what the problem is, lubricated with the mellow mayonnaise of grace. End with another piece of appreciation bread. Way better that a double-barreled assault!
See? There *is* a right way. And you’re going to learn it.
